Boss TR-2 Volume Filter Mod
Found this mod for the Boss Tremolo TR2 pedal on Harmony Central and it saved the day!
I found that the volume significantly dropped when I used the pedal, but after doing these easy steps, it sounds much better.
- Remove the bottom plate and the insulating plastic piece which is just inside.
- Carefully fold out the circuit board and find C4 in the middle of the board (it looks like a little silvery pillow, and the board says “C4″ next to it)
- Remove C4. You can use wire cutters, nail clippers, or even scissors. You can also bend it back and forth a zillion times until the two leads break.
- Replace the circuit board, insulator, and bottom cover. Done!
yea i cant find the C4 on my circuit board. i see C3,C5, but i cant find C4. could you email me a pic of the inside of your boss tr-2 pedal?
don’t have the pedal with me at the moment, but how old is your pedal? i found it right away. it’s right in the middle of the board.
Does this sort of volume anomaly happen in other BOSS pedals or processors? I currently use a GT-8 and I favor “signal interruption effects” like tremolo.
I bought a brand new TR-2 yesterday. There is no C4, (seriously - there is NO C4 marked on the board), but working through other comments, I decided it must be the largest of the caps: C26?
I snipped one lead and used a short clip lead to try the pedal with the cap in/out of circuit. I couldn’t tell any difference either way. Perhaps the effects are only noticeable at higher volume??
I can’t find the C4 either! I bought the pedal a week ago.
Cheers
me neither, i can’t find the C4 ! mine is 3 weeks old.
pozdrawiam
Hey.
I have heard/read that new boss tr-2’s don’t have the same circuitry as the older ones and hence they may not have the C4 or they may have moved it or something
haha..
it sounds great
it takes 5 mins to mod,
thx so much
