Google Notebook

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Found in the Google labs, this new Firefox extension called “Notebook.” It’s actually really cool, you can select any text, picture or website link and “add it to the notebook.” It then displays all of your noted items on a simply laid out interface. What’s nice is that it’s all saved in your gmail account, so you can access it from any computer. Pretty slick!

My first Radiohead Experience

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

IMG_2619

Just saw Radiohead here in San Diego…

It all started with my friends Jarrod and Amanda camping the night before. The next morning I met them and took over waiting in line (we were probably 35 people back from the entrance). I got there at 7am. I waited ALL day, with my wife and friends until 5:30pm when they finally started letting people in. By this time, I had severely burnt my legs from the sun in which I wouldn’t find out until later after the show.

We get spots in front of the stage probably 15 feet from the Thom’s mic stand, so that was pretty cool. We continue standing for about 2 more hours waiting for Radiohead and Deerhoof (opening band) to finish their set. FINALLY, they all came out and it was pretty crazy to see a musician you’ve always loved in person, rather than in magazines and books. Second song came around which was 2+2=5 and everyone got a little too excited and we all started getting squished up front. We ended up leaving our front row spots to do JACKASSES goofing off and creating too dangerous of a pushing frenzy.

We had been standing for over 5 hours at this point, so we decided to head back to the back, relax and sit and enjoy the show from there. They played a TON of songs with two encores. It was a blast.

But I have to say, I will never wait in line that long ever again. It really wasn’t worth being so worn out when they actually started playing.

And that was my wonderful first Radiohead concert experience in a nutshell.

Date of the show was June 26th, 2006.

eBible Invitation

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Got my eBible invite today. Came with three more invites to give out. The functionality is very nice. You can choose which version of the Bible, or concordance to use as default. Tags are what I was guessing would be a big feature, and it is. You can find a verse, tag it and other people can locate you through your tagging and commenting. Pretty cool. I’ve been waiting for something like this for a while. Could have really used this in University when I was taking Bible classes!

I have two more invites to go to those who really need them.

PWA Plugin Update

Monday, June 19th, 2006

My Picasa Web Albums plugin for WordPress has been put on hold for the time being. It seems that Google has put a block on being able to grab any images from the RSS feed (for the plugin I need the thumbnail URL from the feed). I have been trying to figure it out for some time now and I realize that it has to be a block on Google’s end. Therefore, the project has been put on hold until I hear back from Google and figure out what’s going on.

For now, here’s a screenshot of the Widget. It’s all working, just need to figure out why the thumbs are not displaying. I will make this available for download as soon as these problems are figured out.

It’s nice to see my themes doing well on the themes site. I will be making another theme shortly when I can find some extra time, so keep an eye out on my theme page. There will also be some bug updates to the current themes in the next while as I’m finding out small bugs when people install the themes into different kinds of WordPress installations. Mainly just directory structure bugs.

Picasa Web Albums WP Plugin

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Updated: Picasa Web Matrix widget complete! Go the the plugins page to download.

I’m currently almost finished with wp-picasa for WordPress. This is a simple plugin to display your most recent Picasa Web Albums. Widget compatible version available as well. This plugin displays the most recent albums in your sidebar and when an album is clicked, links directly to the specified Picasa Web Album. Much like any Flickr sidebar you’ve seen for WordPress.
